Butaan: The Lost Dragon

Have anyone heard about a creature named Butaan? It is believed that the Butaan is extinct,but a scientist,Daniel found this creature in somewhere in Phillipines. If anyone has information about this magnificent creature,tell us!

I've seen this show on TV! It is on channel 553. I forgot. Was it 553 or ???

1. Assumed extinct for 130 years, the Butaan lizard is one of the world's rarest reptiles.
2. A giant, fruit-eating tree-dweller, the tremendously shy Butaan has never been filmed in the wild — until now.
3. Found in remote Polillo Island in the Philippines.
4. Few scientists have seen the Butaan in the wild.
5. Its habit of hiding out in the high canopies of the forest has made research difficult, not to mention hazardous.
6. Growing up to 7 feet in length.
7. The Butaan — a close relative of the carnivorous Komodo dragon — has a highly specialized, frugivorous diet. It feeds almost exclusively on the tough, reddish-orange fruit of the pandanas palm tree.
8. Over the past 20 years, more than 90 percent of the Butaan's habitat has been destroyed to make way for coconut and rice plantations.
9. Today, only one square mile of habitat remains on Polillo Island for the Butaan, and with trees continuing to fall at an alarming rate, time may be running out for this unique species.
10. Pictures captured only using remote cameras, camera traps and specialized tree mounts.

Too sad that this reptile is going to be extinct due to human behaviour...

Yes. Some humans wants to catch rarely to be seen animals so they can be popular. For example, the front page of the newspaper came out his face. With a topic ' John McSmith Founds A Rarely To Be Seen Animal!'

'butaan' tu sejenis haiwan reptilia... spt biawak yg biasa kita nampak... cuma ia makan buah2an... hanya terdpt di Philippines...
