Story: A Judge's Dilemma

In a small town, a person decided to open up a brothel, which was right opposite a church. The church and its congregation started a campaign to block the brothel from opening with petitions and prayed daily against his business.

Work progressed. However, when the brothel was almost complete and about to open, a strong lightning struck the brothel and it was burnt to the ground.

The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that,
till the brothel owner sued the church authorities on the grounds that the church through its congregation and prayers was ultimately responsible for the destruction of his brothel, either through direct or indirect actions or means.

In its reply to the court, the church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection
that their prayers were reasons for the act of God. As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork at the hearing and commented:

"I don't know how I'm going to decide this case, but it appears from the paperwork,
we have a brothel owner who believes in the power of prayer and we have an entire church that doesn't."

A brothel, also known as a bordello, cathouse, whorehouse, sporting house and various other euphemisms, is an establishment specifically dedicated to prostitution, providing the prostitutes a place to meet and to have sexual intercourse with clients. In some places, brothels are legal, and in many countries, places such as massage parlors are allowed to function as brothels, with varying degrees of regulation and repression. Depending on zoning, brothels may be confined to special red-light districts or tolerance zones.

Brothels were very common in the past, but are prohibited today in most European countries. There are however exceptions, for example Netherlands or Germany (see Prostitution in Europe). In most countries from Europe, brothels were made illegal after World War II. During the first half of the 20th century, France and Italy were famous for their brothels. France outlawed all brothels in 1946 and Italy made them illegal in 1959. Today Amsterdam is well known for its red-light district and it is a destination for sex tourism.

In this story... the person who owned the prostitution believed that act of God [burnt out the brothel] was due to the prayer of Church folks. But the church folks denied their prayers caused the situations!

Bagaimana orang 'jahat' [pemilik rumah pelacuran] boleh percayakan doa yang makbul sedangkan orang 'alim' [ahli gereja] yang tak percayakan doa sendiri. Sebagai hakim: bersalahkah ahli gereja sama ada secara langsung atau tidak menyebabkan kemusnahan rumah pelacuran itu?

It's really hard for the judge to decide the case so that's the statement the judge said as 'red words above' and so do I!

Brothel means =rumah pelacuran

And yes the story is just a joke, because the judge find it difficult to decide: His situation, the bad man who owned the brothel really believe in the power of prayer of the church (Direct or indirectly) caused his lost, whereas the church and its people doesn't bealieve at all.

This writer is indeed very creative and his work though short has a tinge of humour. We should have more writers coming up with work like this.
